Pet Society Birthday Competition
Hey Pet Society fans!
Do you remember when there wasn’t a Stadium in Pet Society? When the CafĂ© was just a construction site? Newer players may find it hard to believe, but at one point there were no Mystery Boxes, let alone a whole Mystery Store! How about this: can you remember when there wasn’t a Pet Society?
It’s hard to believe we know, but a little under a year ago, there wasn’t! That’s right, on the 8th of August, 2009, we celebrate the first birthday of Pet Society!
To celebrate, we thought we’d make some lucky pets rich beyond their wildest dreams. You may have thought that the 100 thousand coins for the Garden Competition seemed like a pretty awesome amount of coins, but how about a million? Sounds good doesn’t it? So we’re going to make someone a Pet Society millionaire!
How do you get in with a chance of winning? All you have to do is post a piece of art or fiction titled “If I had a million coins…” to forum.playfish.com. It could be a short story, a drawing, a video, a photograph, a comic strip… or any other inventive way to show us just what you’d do with all those Pet Society coins.
Pieces will be judged in different categories, the categories may include: most creative, most fun, most humorous, most original, best use of technology, most resourceful, best use of cheese, most impressive and most cute. Winners in each of the categories will receive 100 thousand coins, and one lucky winner who excels in some or all of the judged categories will be awarded with one million coins! Plus, all winning entries will be propelled to instant stardom on www.petsociety.com for everyone to admire!
Entries will be open until August 3rd and the winners will be announced shortly after, so you’ve got plenty of time to let your imagination run wild and design your entry!
Please refer to http://static.playfish.com/legal/20090716_pets_birthday_terms.html and ensure you agree with the Terms and Conditions prior to entering!
So pick up a pen, paint brush, camera, or whatever is your style, and design your dream!
Darkness Descends
Hey Pet Society fans! It’s that time of week again, where “?” leaves us wondering what he’s hidden now. Sirius paid a visit to the Mystery Store earlier, to buy a few boxes, and to see if she could get any information from “?” about what might be on the cards this week. As usual, he wasn’t giving too much away, but he did mutter a few things, however they seem rather cryptic:
- Single legged carpentry! (Blue Mystery Box)
- Sign of the times! (Golden Mystery Box)
- Bale of fun! (Golden Mystery Box)
So sign on to Pet Society on Facebook, and see if you can work out the clues, as these items are now hidden in Mystery Boxes! (We will update this in a few days with images.)
There is one more thing that you should be aware of, and that is that your light switches are now functional! Simply click the light switch to have your pet turn the lights off or on – if you do leave your light switch on the ground, your pet will interact with it automatically.
Just a couple of things to note, if you leave a room and return to it, the lights will be on (not matter how you left them). Also, when using the photo feature, even when taking a photo with the lights off, the photo will still appear bright (the camera has a very good flash).
Please note that this update is for the Facebook version of the game only. The MySpace and Bebo versions of the game have not changed at this stage.

The Best Gardens in Pet Society
The gardens are proving to be one of the most interesting features in Pet Society. Not only are there challenges and delights in growing veggies and fruit, but decorating the garden can be a big task. You can, of course, just sprinkle some seeds and wait for stuff to grow, but you’re still stuck with some loose dirt and ugly holes. What can you do to make the garden prettier? Take some cues from these gorgeous gardens in my neighborhood:
The Art Garden
My pet’s friend Dior has a lovely Art Garden filled with pretty objects and colorful eggs left over from Easter. This technique makes your eyes go upward toward the decorations and the green tops of the trees.
The Zen Garden
I love, love this Asian-inspired garden by Chiriru. It’s the perfect setting for meditation or a tea ceremony.
The Garden Bedroom
Inspired by my friends’ gardens, I constructed an outdoor retreat for my pet. For naps in the shade, I put a bed between two trees. Ah… paradise. Now, if only Sushi’s boyfriend Wasabi would visit for an afternoon romp.

Playfish Cash
I did something today that I’m not very proud of…I got Playfish cash.
Ok, well, I’m not dumb enough to BUY it, but I just did a quick survey and earned 10 Playfish Cash.
The reason why I wanted the dough was because there was a beautiful rock fountain for sale, and I had to have it for my garden.
Want to earn some cash? Here’s how to get to the surveys:
First go to the cash shop, and find the ATM:
Click on the ATM, and browse through the choices until you find a bar that looks like this:
You can earn 10 coins by completing a survey, and 80 if you try or buy a product. I did a survey about auto insurance. Full disclosure: I had to make up most of the answers because I’m only thirteen and don’t even have a driver’s license. Let’s just say it was a creative exercise. I think I’ll do those surveys with my other accounts…Ca-ching! Ca-ching!

Sushi wins the Pet Society – Playfish Contest
Yippee! I won Playfish’s 100 millionth download contest! The prize is an all-expenses paid trip to any of the cities where Playfish has an office (San Francisco, Beijing, London, or Tromso, Norway).
The funny thing is, I was not supposed to win this. I was like the runner-up in a beauty pageant. (And just for the record, I support gay marriage!) The first winner was someone from Italy, and according to Tom Sarris, Playfish’s Director of Global Communications, the winner could not be reached. This isn’t surprising, because I almost deleted the announcement myself, as it was buried between so much other junk:
The winning announcement from Playfish
Moral of the story: Don’t ignore e-mail from Playfish!
I am bubbling with joy. Thanks so much to Playfish for giving me this opportunity. This totally makes up for all those times when I was hoping for golden poo and only got brown! I was really starting to think I’m not lucky—especially when a few others were getting rainbow poo! My pet Sushi was so excited that he immediately put on his tarty little French dress and kicked it up with his amies. Ooh la la!
